CONCERT MUSIC
Kristen Hirlinger (ASCAP) premiered her first large ensemble composition with her high school band at 18, and received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Central Missouri in 2013 for her studies in music technology and composition. She has written numerous works for ensembles in the Kansas City area, including the Kansas City Flute Choir, the Lexington Wind Symphony, UCM’s Flöterwonkers Flute Ensemble, and the esteemed Kansas City vocal octet Octarium. Now based in Los Angeles, Hirlinger scores short films, and is an Emmy-nominated sound editor on hit TV shows and films. She is a voting member of the Television Academy. Hirlinger plays flute with the Los Angeles Symphonic Winds, and produces an annual female composers concert with the organization Sigma Alpha Iota. Her works have more recently been performed by the LA Winds and the Contemporary Choral Collective of LA.
